The fair is a place for people of all ages to enjoy, and the Allen County Fair decided to extend an invitation for a day of fun to some of their older fairgoers with Senior Citizen’s Day.

There were plenty of things to do for the seniors that stopped by the fairgrounds for free – with some of the bigger events being the Golden Age Day parties at the Gospel Singing Tent, plus a few things to check out throughout the fairgrounds.

“Senior Day is a special day at the fair – we open the merchant’s building early, we have extra shuttles running, the gospel tent has entertainment going all day, we hold contests for the oldest married couple, oldest male, oldest female, and then throughout the fairgrounds, all the acts are going on,” said Bob Fricke, Fair Manager. “We know the seniors enjoy the sit-down areas, so that’s good for them.”

For many of these senior citizens, the fair has been a fun experience in their lives and they have plenty of good memories. Whether they were just visiting, or they played a big part in the lives of some of the young fair members throughout the years, the Allen County Fair holds a place in their hearts.
